Donating to Queensland Symphony Orchestra

Donating to Queensland Symphony Orchestra Fund

Donations to Queensland Symphony Orchestra come in all shapes and sizes – or to put these gifts in a musical context – there are both major and minor donations.

Major donations are those once-off, transformational gifts that really shift the Orchestra onto a higher level. Some of the recent transformational gift-givers have had practice rooms, artists’ suites and the music library named after them.

Minor donations are equally important, as the giver tends to donate every year, often several times a year. In recent months these donations have helped us purchase new music scores, fund new music commissions, repair and replace instruments and instrument stands – all of which helps our vibrant orchestra offer exciting musical experiences for the enjoyment of all Queenslanders.

Two programs which will benefit from your gifts today are the Annual Giving Program ($2 and more) and Music Chair Program ($2,000 and more).

Donations to our Annual Giving Program are directed to areas of greatest need, which change from year to year.  Donations to our Music Chair Program help to offset the costs of employing the best musicians and providing state-of-the-art working conditions. Your gift will be acknowledged on the Orchestra website. The orchestra has both DGR and TCC status and all gifts to Queensland Symphony Orchestra Fund of $2 or more are tax deductible.

If you have any questions about making a donation, please contact the Development Team on 3833 5027. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

“Without music, life would be a mistake.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

Indeed. What would life be without music?
I’m a proud member of the family of sponsors who enable this orchestra to continue to share their music with Queensland. I love each and every Queensland Symphony Orchestra performance and to know that I play a small part in bringing this amazing music to the community thrills me beyond belief. What’s not to like? World-class musicians and conductors, fantastic and varied music, and a warm feeling in the pit of your stomach.

As a Music Chair Sponsor I particularly enjoy the personal contact with “my” musicians who give me a behind-the-scenes view of the music they perform; they give me an insight I don’t think I’d get as a general attendee.  And I relish feeling part of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra community.

Honestly, I sometimes think I get more out of Queensland Symphony Orchestra then they get out of me!

To anyone who is teetering on the brink of choosing to support our Queensland Symphony Orchestra, I would urge you to take the plunge and just go for it. Truly, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done and I hope to be a Queensland Symphony Orchestra supporter when I’m very old and grey and they have to carry me into performances.
